Does AviClear work on blackheads and whiteheads, or only inflammatory acne?
AviClear is FDA-cleared specifically for inflammatory acne vulgaris. Comedonal acne (blackheads and whiteheads) may improve as overall oil production decreases, but the laser primarily targets inflamed lesions.
Can I wear makeup the day after an AviClear session?
In most cases, yes. Your provider may recommend waiting 24 hours and using only non-comedogenic, mineral-based makeup to avoid irritating the treated skin.
Is there an age minimum for AviClear?
AviClear is indicated for adolescents and adults, so there is no strict minimum age. Your provider will evaluate whether the treatment is appropriate based on acne severity and skin maturity.
What happens if I only complete two of the three sessions?
The full three-session protocol is necessary to effectively suppress sebaceous gland activity. Skipping a session may reduce the overall efficacy and longevity of your results.
Will my acne come back after AviClear?
Clinical data shows that breakouts become shorter, less intense, and less frequent over time after completing the protocol. Some patients may benefit from a maintenance session in the future, which your provider will discuss.
Can I do AviClear and use prescription acne medication at the same time?
Certain medications are compatible, but patients on isotretinoin should wait until their course is complete. Your AZALA provider will review your current medications before creating your treatment plan.
Does AviClear hurt?
Most patients describe a snapping sensation during treatment, similar to a rubber band. The built-in AviCool™ cooling technology helps keep discomfort manageable throughout the session.
How is AviClear different from other acne lasers I've seen advertised?
AviClear is the only laser that uses a 1726 nm wavelength to selectively target sebaceous glands. Older acne lasers target water or bacteria, which doesn't address excess oil production at the source.
